Featured in a self-produced, seven piece, outdoor concert series “Palm of Her Hand” is an exploration of the divine feminine. It is a patient yet fierce depiction of womanhood. Growing up in a religion that taught of the radical existence of a “Heavenly Mother” but didn’t share any insights into Her personality, traits, or characteristics left a void for me. How can I have a relationship with this Being that I feel exists, if I don’t know anything about Her? My choreographic research led me to settle on the knowlege that I DID know her. I knew her through the women in my circles, incredibly intelligent, brave, and extraordinary.

“i want to apologize to all the women i have called beautiful

before i’ve called them intelligent or brave

i am sorry i made it sound as though

something as simple as what you’re born with

is all you have to be proud of

when you have broken mountains with your wit

from now on i will say things like

you are resilient, or you are extraordinary

not because i don’t think you’re beautiful

but because i need you to know

you are more than that”
