Choreographer - Utah - 2022

“Rubies Aren’t Red”originated from my desire to create a large group piece utilizing unique movement vocabulary and striking images. The language was formed by asking the dancers to create a gesture of something they had never done on stage. What emerged is a mass of characters who “have the ick” for everything. The stone-cold mass juxtaposes dynamic, human duets and solos. Set to Michael Wall’s Spiceman, “Rubies Aren’t Red” is an abstract, silly take on counterculture and hipsters.
